About Bountiful Gardeners for Africa

Our History

Bountiful Gardeners for Africa was founded in 2014  on the premise that diminishing arable land size for cultivation of food crops, inappropriate farming methods and loss of biodiversity are the main causes of food insecurity, malnutrition, diminishing livelihoods and environmental degradation. Rapid increase in human population and the decline in soil fertility compound the problem. Our main work is to promote ecologically sound and economically viable strategies and solutions that enhance sustainable agricultural productivity and efficient utilization and management of natural resources. We work with smallholder farmers with special attention to women, youth and people living with disability.

BGA’s extension and outreach program is designed to increase farmers’ knowledge and skills in production of quality and safe food hence enhancing food, nutrition, income and soil fertility management.  Since its establishment, BGA’s extension/outreach program has been able to train well over 10,000 households in  GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming.

Looking to the future

Our Goals

  1. Continue to train smallholder farm families on  GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming (GB)
  2. Provide demonstrations and training on Urine Diverting Dry Toilets and effective use of human derived fertilizers
  3. Engage target communities in the  ongoing research for both GB and human derived fertilizers
