BGA’s extension and outreach program is designed to increase farmers’ knowledge and skills in production of quality and safe food, hence enhancing food, nutrition, income and soil fertility management. Since its establishment, BGA’s extension/outreach program has been able to train well over 10,000 households in GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming (GB). We provide training on GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming and Urine Diverting Dry Toilets in order to engage the wider community and spread what we do, and how others can implement it on their own farms. Human waste recycling is somewhat of a new idea in Kenya. It is crucial that we continue to train, so that we can de-stigmatize human waste recycling and educate on how it can improve soil fertility and decrease food production costs.
A crucial part of our technique is the Urine Diverting Dry Toilet. We construct these ourselves, in different locations, in order to increase food security in more communities. This enables us to develop our own fertilizer, which can then be used on our crops to increase the quality and decrease the production costs.
