Bountiful Gardeners for Africa was founded in Trans-Nzoia County, Kenya in 2014 in response to growing food insecurity in the area due to diminishing arable land and loss of biodiversity. We aim to promote strategies that strengthen sustainable agriculture efforts and engage the community in order to decrease local food insecurity and empower small holder farm families.
At Bountiful Gardeners for Africa, we deeply value research as a part of our work. We utilize and train in innovative technology in Urine Diverting Dry Toilets and GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming in order to be efficient with our use of resources. We work towards a "closed-loop" agricultural system in which fewer inputs are required to increase yields and produce higher quality food. Our ongoing research is critical to this process, and we are always working to better our strategies.
One of the most important parts of what we do at Bountiful Gardeners for Africa is our outreach program in which we provide training for local communities on GROW BIOINTENSIVE® Sustainable Mini-Farming and its benefits, as well as the construction of Urine Diverting Dry Toilets, which are a crucial part of the human waste recycling strategy that we employ.
